Kimmi: Why are these peppermint softgels enteric coated?
Jase: The coating is intended to delay release until after the stomach. A two-softgel serving lists peppermint, ginger and fennel oils.
This product is not a treatment for bowel disease. Peppermint oil may worsen reflux or heartburn and can cause nausea or irritation. Persistent or severe abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in stool, unexplained weight loss or a lasting change in bowel habits needs medical assessment.
The label is for adults, excludes pregnancy and breastfeeding, and warns against use with allergy to peppermint, fennel or ginger. It also advises consultation with liver or kidney disease, medicines or other medical conditions. The softgel contains gelatin and soybean oil, so it is not vegan and contains soy.
Directions
Suggested Use: Take 1-2 softgels 1 to 3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place after opening.
