Psyllium is a bulk-forming fibre, not a bowel “cleanse” or a treatment for blood sugar, cholesterol or heart disease. It must be mixed with plenty of liquid and swallowed immediately before thickening. Do not use with difficulty swallowing, bowel narrowing, severe abdominal pain, vomiting or suspected obstruction.
