Kimmi: Is “bowel cleanse” the plain-English version of a laxative blend?

Jase: The ingredient list includes stimulant laxative herbs such as senna, cascara and rhubarb root, along with wormwood, licorice, activated carbon and other herbs.

Kimmi: So not something to use casually for weeks?

Jase: Correct. Stimulant laxatives can cause cramping, diarrhoea, dehydration and electrolyte problems, and ongoing constipation needs medical advice. Activated carbon may reduce absorption of medicines; separate it from medicines only as directed by a pharmacist or doctor.

Do not use for unexplained abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or suspected bowel obstruction. Check with a health professional before use, particularly for children, older adults, pregnancy or breastfeeding, kidney or heart conditions, or regular medicine use.

Suggested Use: Best taken straight or by drops for infants. Can be taken in 50mls of boiled water as a tea.

Dietary Advice: AVOID mucus-forming foods such as gluten, egg-white, chocolate, sugar, dairy, polyunsaturated oils, regular salt. ADOPT gluten-free grain foods, whole foods (greens, fruits, nuts, seeds), unprocessed coconut oil, 1022 Celtic & NZ Sea Salt with kelp, oxygen-rich water. Swill prior to swallowing.

Precautionary Advice: Shake bottle vigorously prior to each dose. To accustom to product take a ¼ to ½ dose for the first 2 or 3 days. If taking prescribed medication, consult with your Doctor prior to using herbal tonics. Avoid coffee or tea for ¼ hour before and after a dose.
